Colonel Wesley Owens, USMA Class of 1856, led US cavalry troops in the Comanche War Texas & New Mexico & Civil War Colonel, 5th US Cavalry (incl Antietam & Hanover Court House, Virginia), also Stoneman's raid. An original circa 1865 Invitation from Owens & "the officers of the 5th US Cavalry" at William's Barracks, 18th & N Street (Washington) to Miss Norton, Compliments of Colonel Owen". 1p 7 x 5" w envelope addressed to MIss Norton. Both items have a ptd color logo for the 5th Cavalry. From the collection of Mary S Norton, niece of General & Mrs Samuel Heintzelman who introduced her into Washington Society during the War. A nice item of Civil War history. Cover with glue stain, both Very Good overall. Thanks for visiting Mike Brackin Civil War Antiques.
