The 17th Pennsylvania Cavalry saw hard fighting including under General John Buford at Gettysburg. Muster Roll for F Company, 17th Pa cavalry, December, 1862, naming the 70 men present for duty at Stafford Court House, Virginia, and notes the unit's recent activities incl engagemnet w the enemy at Ocoquon, Virginia (The troop first fight was with Hampton's Cavalry at Ocoquon). Sgd by Captain Charles Lee, also by Lt Col James M Deems, the latter became a brevet brigadier general. 32 x 32" ptd,ink. Archival repairs at folds, vg overall. |
