A handsome, original Model 1845 US infantry insuignia, a gilt embroidered cloth bugle on black felt backing, these were issued for infantry hats through the Seminole & Mexican Wars to 1855 and widely used by State Volunteer regiments during the Civil War. Approx 2 x 2", vg, unissued, in exc cond. (see Fig 309, Campbell & O'Donnell, American Military Headgear Insignia). |
