General Ira C Eaker rose from a pre-war fighter pilot to Commander of the Eighth US Air Force, Army Air Corp, during World War 2. A very rare original pair of photos of Eaker piloting an Army Loening Amphibious biplane, ferrying the Secretary of War from Washington, DC, to THE Panama Canal Zone, March 11, 1928.
