A very handsome 18th century hand made wall shelf, w ornate molded gilt gesso decorations and bearing a lovely calligraphy inscription '"1720 (About) these ornaments were turned by Harriet Countess of Chambrassil, Mother of Anne Countess of Roden...", etc, incl the lineage and it's Presentation by Lt Colonel Robert Shaw to son Frederick William Shaw, on his birthday, March 15, 1860. This approx 37" tall shelf is 17" wide & 8" deep at the base. Comes w bio info- Lady Harriet, 1700-1792, was the Baroness of Claneboyne, County Down, Ireland, & Viscountess of the City of Limereck, Ireland. The family were notable Irish peers, & Frederick was Lt Colonel of the Royal Dublin Fusileers & Royal Irish, the Great War.
