| On of the best Revolutionary War items I have seen in awhile! A beautiful wood drum cannteen, w large red paint letters "M.S'.", with visible traces of the original "U.S' lettering beneath. This canteen bears a 3" 19th century ink label inscribed " Canteen used in the Revolutionary War', followed by some initials I cant read. The inscription is faded burt legible. The dark green paint canteen is approx 7" diameter, w remains of the leather loops that held the canteen sling. The canteen reverse wood is cracked and bears a stamped pair of initials "NR", also beRS a crudeLy carved pair of the same initials. The canteen came from an estate near Clinton, Massachusetts. |
