When the ladies of New Orleans showed disrespect to the Yankee Occupiers, General Butler issued the infamous May 15, 1862 "Woman Order",# 28, that any woman who shows comtempt for Union soldiers shall be 'treated as a woman of the town plying her avocation",creating such furor that Jefferson Davis placed a bounty on the head of the General, hereafter known as "The Beast".
