| a massive early percussion shotgun w oversize triggerguard to allow room for mitten- wearing hunter. Bore is approx 20mm (13/16"), barrel is 46", 63" overall. The gun is unmarked except for underside of barrel- stamped "I Marson", and bears the English "viewing" & "final" gunmakers proofs. The oversize triggerguard and buttplate are uncleaned brass. The Tower musket styke stock retains one brass lock bolt fitting, stock is attached by flat pins w oval keepers. Ramord rail is old resoldered, w 1 brass, one iron rr loop. The gun shows much use, age, w rough, cleaned lock. Marson may be an early Birmingham England maker. weighs approx 12 lbs. THIS GUN IS AN ANTIQUE ONLY AND IS NOT SAFE TO SHOOT |
