British Army compass, heavy brass w hinged cover, mother of pearl face, w broad arrow ordnance marks, maker Cruchon & Emons, Vernier's Pattern, London, & dated 1916. W original 1916 dated leather case. a scarce officer's model, the owners initials are inked on case "WHJ". An early War, Somme era compass, identical to a 1915 mfg one shown in Brassey's " World War One British Army" This compass has seen some action and the lid has cracked glass. This is NOT one of the repros being produced in Pakistan and sold all over the place. |
