SOLDIER KEY CHAIN FREDERICKSBURG a really neat excavated artifact- a home made key chain, w keys, dug near Fredericksburg Virginia in the 1960s. The inventive soldier made the chain from a sword brass sword hanger clip & a brass cavalry bridle chain; the chain holds 4 keys-3 iron & & one brass; the latter key is a very early style leg iron key. A very nice example of a Civil War soldier's creative use of field gear.

The ambrotype is of a little girl in best dress and lace pnataloons, Both subjects w tinted cheeks; the 6th plate case has original gilt mats. The tintype is creased but clear, the case hinge is repaired. Each image approx 3 x 2.7".
