REVOLUTIONARY WAR SOLDIER LETTER a poignant letter from John Stacy, Framingham, Massachusetts, March 12, 1780, tp his family, reports he is well, not yet paid; will march to Camp, "I have no ned of saying I have reenlisted"… "I hope the time will sun come wen friends friend can liv in pise and ways of war be not heard". "Your loving brother, John Stacy". Bottom of p2 w a list of family members births, deaths to 1792 incl his & brother Caleb, also a soldier, 2pp 8 x 9" ink stampless cover addr to "Samuel Stone, at Fitswilliam"- Stacy joined Colonel Nixons Regt, Cambrdge, June 5, 1775, so fought at Bunker Hill, also fought Brant & Butler's British & Iroquois at Cherry Valley, NY.

THE NEW ENGLAND PRIMER The most widely used school book of early America , The New England Primer, first ptd 1690s, was re-issued into the mid 1800s; often the only school book available on the early Frontier! The widely issued 1843 edition was made from the 1777edition, and features woodcut of American Patriot John Hancock"President of the American Congress", w 1844 copyright by Ira Webster, Hartford, Connecticut.This tiny 50 plus pp children's pocket edition incl the ABC's, each w illus of sinners, demons, and is the first printing of the child's prayer "Now I lay Me Down to Sleep". A rare primer, w blue paper covered wood board covers. Covers slightly separated and wear, but binding good. scarce.

REVOLUTIONARY WAR CANTEEN a nice wood keg canteen with oak staves and wrought iron bands . The center bends have holes for the iron loops that held the sling, one loop remains. The cork that remains may be original, it has a fitted tinware cap. The canteen shows usual wear, iron bands are dark but sound, the cork is worm eaten, and a 1/4" approx hole w 2nd hardwood "cork" was added about 1" from the spout. Approx 9 x 7". Vg, As shown in Neuman "Collector's Encyclopedia of the American Revolution".

AARON BURR'S TREASON a nice letter, from an officer at Fort Columbus, NY Harbor, March 17, 1812, from Lt Justus Post, US Army, to a fellow officer, re fort news, gossip, & Army news, and Lt Post expresses the opinion that Col Burr should go to Mexico. Justus Post became a noted Missouri pioneer. 3pp ink. Vg. (Aaron Burr had just returned to America, after a 4 year exodus following his acquittal on treason charges, having been accused of trying to organize his own nation in the Southwest).

REGIMENTALLY MKD 1790 CANTEEN a great wood keg canteen in orilginal blue paint with gothic script markings "N.G. 3 1790" and a pair of small case letters ort numerals that I cant decipher. This has carved wood feet, raised spout with tinware neck and wrought iron handle and bands. This came from a Hopewell, New Jersey estate. Iron rusty but sound and 90% paint remaining. Unresearched.

REVOLUTIONARY WAR STATE MARKED CANTEEN On of the best Revolutionary War items I have seen in awhile! A beautiful wood drum cannteen, w large red paint letters "M.S'.", with visible traces of the original "U.S' lettering beneath. This canteen bears a 3" 19th century ink label inscribed " Canteen used in the Revolutionary War', followed by some initials I cant read. The inscription is faded burt legible. The dark green paint canteen is approx 7" diameter, w remains of the leather loops that held the canteen sling. The canteen reverse wood is cracked and bears a stamped pair of initials "NR", also beRS a crudeLy carved pair of the same initials. The canteen came from an estate near Clinton, Massachusetts.

REVOLUTIONARY WAY SOLDIER'S PAY Revolutionary War Soldier's pay certificate, issued by the State of Connecticut, "Connecticut Line, Continental Army" issued June 1, 1782, w ornate border, mkd "The State doth owe to Mr Bliss Hart who hath served in the Connecticut Line of the Continental Army being one forth of the balance due to him, which sum shall be paid to him in gold or silver". Issued at Hartford, Ct & sgd by Treasurer John Lawrence. 8 x 5" ptd/ink, w cancellation hole indicating the soldier had been paid. Rev w archive repair. Vg. Bliss Hart was born in Southington, Ct, died in Brookfield, Ohio, 1831.
