W resolutions of Boston citizens condemning the outrage and the presence of British troops in town. The cover top margin is ink inscribed "L Ullmann Spfld, Mo" (This originally came with another, 1776 newspaper, also idd to Ullmann, presented to the Mississippi Valley Sanitary Fair, May, 1864). 4pp wear & tear at folds, pages separate.

WASHINGTON SELLS HIS LANDS An historic circa 1801 repirnt of the Maryland Journal and Baltimore Advertiser, Aug 20, 1773 vol 1 issue 1, with the large advertisement by George Washington, Mount Vernon, offering his western lands on the Ohio & Kanhawa Rivers for sale, refers buyers to self "near Alexandria", or his agent, Mr Lund Washington; also an article defending the refusal of Marylanders to pay tithes to the Church of England, defending the separation of Church and State! Originally publ by William Goddard, Baltimore, I believe this 4pp reprint was issued in 1801 on the Death of Washington. Age dark, sturdy old rag paper w small tears at margins.

IOWA IMMIGRANT TRUNK an historic early Iowa immigrant trunk from the Huber/Gaertner families of Winnesheik County Iowa- a rugged late 18th century dove-tail pine domed trunk, the handles, straps and lock plate are hand wrought iron; the latter, a stylized 2-headed eagle, perhaps a Russian symbol. The Huber family came to Iowa in 1850 the party elder, Johnannes Gaertner survived Napoloeon's Moscow campaign- his sons built a church in thanksgiving at Old Mission, near Fort Atkinson , Iowa. The State of Iowa erected a plaque honoring him. Worn but solid, and 80% of the lamp black finish remains. 34 x 19 x 18".

COLONIAL NEW YORK DECORATED TILE a great 17th- 18th century Colonial New York item- a Dutch delftware tile, showing a happy man in colonial garb, jug in his arm, stirring away. Handsome blue and hand painted, w gray background. The reverse has a maker stamp and an ealry collector's ink initials. This came from an old Upstate New York Revolutionary War collection. Vg. W info sheet from "Artifacts of Colonial America", - the pattern corner design is known as "Oxhead" and dates 1650-1700s- this corner design is also found on tiles dug at Colonial Jameswown, Virginia.
