ZACHARY TAYLOR MOURNED 1850 An historic Taylor Memorial item, issued at HQ Adg General, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, July 11, 1850, announces the "melancholy Intelligence of the death of Zachary Taylor, late President ", at Washington July 9, 1030 PM, and orders every arsenal to fire a gun every half hour, & each military unit to render a show of regard for the late hero. 1p 8 x 11" Ink sgd by Adj Genl WH Irwin. The reverse bears a 2nd ink manuscript General Order # 4, Divison HQ, Greensburg, Pa- every officer to wear black mourning crape, and communicate the sad news to the citizenry. This order also complete, sgd by General CP Markle's ADC. . Printed on thin paper, the 2nd page ink script is visible through the front page.

EARLY PUNT GUN a massive early percussion shotgun w oversize triggerguard to allow room for mitten- wearing hunter. Bore is approx 20mm (13/16"), barrel is 46", 63" overall. The gun is unmarked except for underside of barrel- stamped "I Marson", and bears the English "viewing" & "final" gunmakers proofs. The oversize triggerguard and buttplate are uncleaned brass. The Tower musket styke stock retains one brass lock bolt fitting, stock is attached by flat pins w oval keepers. Ramord rail is old resoldered, w 1 brass, one iron rr loop. The gun shows much use, age, w rough, cleaned lock. Marson may be an early Birmingham England maker. weighs approx 12 lbs. THIS GUN IS AN ANTIQUE ONLY AND IS NOT SAFE TO SHOOT

These Arab trade bracelets were traded as money by arab slave traders for the ivory & the African slave trade in Nubia, Sudan and Upper Egypt. All are circa 1800-early 1900s. Avg diameter 4-5". I got these in Lower Egypt in the early 1980s. All are much worn, uncleaned. The group
