1855 VINTAGE SOUTHWESTERN INDIAN COLOR IMAGES A lovely group of 5 original color woodcuts of Southwest Indians made as part of the 1855 US Government Survey of the Southwest incl 1) "Papagos"- man w bow and woman w stick harvesting cactus fruit, 2) "Pimo Women", a pair of women carrying large pottery food vessels on their heads, 3) "Diegenos", an Indian man leading wife & infant child on a burro, 4) "Arenenos Subtribe of the Papagos", Indian men with fish, 5) "Toro-Mucho Chief of a Band of Kioways" wearing a huge cross. Each approx 8 x 11". The Kiowa image has age spots, all have usual text ink bleeding, images 1-4 are VG, each has imprints of Arthur Schott & Sarony & Knapp, New York The 5 woodcuts

TEXAS CRIMINAL COURT DOCKET 1881 A fascinating Old West item- A huge leather bound Criminal Court Docket for Hays County, Texas . The big 16 x 11" ledger has 145pp, of which the first 16 pages are filled in w entries naming the criminal, crime- incl illegally buying and selling strays, gambling at an illegal monte bank, running a gaming house, gambling with cards, stealing a saddle, unlawfully carrying a pistol, even giving free liquor on election day, total 54 entries, each entry includes trial dates. The binding is exc, the leather covers are worn but sound. Hays County was an important locus of the Chisholm Trail.
