ARCTIC EXPLORER ADOLPHUS W GREELY General AW Greely was a Civil War veteran officer who commanded the Greely Arctic Exploration Expedition in the 1880s and became Chief of the US Weather Service, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, and founder of the National Geographic Society. OLD SOUTHWEST NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN BASKET A very old woven fiber basket, approx 7" wide x 5" tall, with a faded diamond pattern. This basket came from the collection of an Iowa physician who traveled extensively in the 1920-30s. The basket is a bit lopsided from age but flexible.

BREMER COUNTY IOWA PHOTOGRAPH PRAIRIE FAMILY A nice original photo of a prairie farm family, the patriarch and wife in their buggy, the rest of the family stands on the porch of their large frame home, w printed caption on front "Prairie Home of Philip Carpenter, Bremer Co., Iowa". The images is VG, the mat is 12 x 10", mat is trimmed at bottom corners, VG overall. No photographer imprint. I believe the photo dates to the 1870s.

HISTORIC RUN OF 1869 US ARMY ORDERS Group of original US Army general orders, Dept of the East, HQ New York City, for 1869, w approx 120 ptd orders & circulars, many are multipage courtmartials for regular army soldiers & officers incl Ordnance Major Buffington for challenging a fellow officer to a duel, calling him a coward & liar fopr searching arsenal workers tool chests, also CMs at Forts McHenry, Delaware, Hamiltion, Carlisle Barracks etc. Some soldiers convicted of desertion are sentenced to be branded on the hip!
