GOLD SCALES EARLY AMERICAN POCKET SCALES An original set of pocket scales as used for weighing coins, gold, and apothecary items. The 2 brass pans and balance have the original green cotton strings, and dark green leather covered wood case, the later with embossed image of an American eagle and shield. The case is approx 7 x 3 x 1". The case is fair with hinge repaired and wear on leather & the inside cloth lining. There is a compartment for the weights which are missing.

NORDENFELDT ARTILLERY SHELL BRASS CASE A very uncommon circa 1880s artillery shell casing, 3" diameter, approx 6.2" tall, with a very thick applied brass base, latter with a single stamp of 2 interposed capital letters "N"; I believe this is an early Nordenfeldt casing. VG, brown patina.

SIAMESE TWINS CHANG & ENG BUNKER CDV PHOTOGRAPH A classic original CDV photo of the Brothers Chang & Eng Bunker, originally from Thailand, they became wealthy & prominent plantation owners, Mount Airy, North Carolina, fathering 21 children- 2 sons fought for the Confederacy. This circa 1870 full view shows the 2 brothers standing wioth 2 of their sons. The image reverse has a photogrpaher imprint by S Masury, 289 Washington, St, Boston. Age spots & stains, overall Good. DONNER PARTY SIERRA NEVADA VILLIAN AUTOGRAPH US NAVY Selim E Woodworth, a US Navy officer, was placed in charge of the relief expeditions from Sutter's Fort to rescue the Donner Party survivors in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Truckee Lake (Donner Pass), 1846, but despite the heroism of individual expedition members in attempting to rescue the "Forlorn Hope" survivors, Woodworth, fearing the Winter snows, repeatedly delayed the rescue efforts. An original US Navy pay check, issued to Woodworth at the US Navy Yard, New York, August, 1844, and signed on front "S.E. Woodworth", 2 years before the Donner Party Expedition, the most famous episode f group cannibalism in American History. A rare autograph. 8 x 3" blue paper, ptd/ink, VG.

19TH CENTURY ICE SKATES a very handsome pair of turn of the century American made ice skates, w striking yellow painted wood body, steel blades marked "Union HDW Co Torrington, Conn USA", and each skate bears one of the original 3 leather straps w iron buckles. the old paint has nice age and a pleasing patina. These skates date to circa 1890s.

CIVIL WAR CONNECTICUT MILITIA BUTTONS A nice matching pair of military 2-pc brass militia coat buttons for the Connecticut Governor's Foot Guard, an American militia unit. The button face has script letters "GFG" . Maker is Waterbury Button Co. circa 1870-90s. The unit was founded in 1771. These buttons have 13 stars stamped back. They are circa 1880-90s. Original June 30, 1870 issue of the adventure journal, "The New York Weekly" w illustrated frontpage, showing frontier figure lassoing an Indian warrior, & feature serial adventure titled "Little Buckshot, The White Whirlwind of the Prairie", by Ned Buntline, Col. EZC Judson, Author of Buffalo Bill". 8pp newspaper format also includes lurid stories incl 'Arabella's Two Lovers", "Edna's Debt & How She Paid It" etc. wear at folds , edges, but very presentable & graphic.

A very rare group of 10 US Army Orders pertaining to Alcatraz, incl 3 US Army Orders, issued at HQ Dept of California, San Francisco appointing officers for the trials of prisoners at Alcatraz Island, 4 orders sending various Army prisoners to Alcatraz , 2 Orders sending Army paymasters to Alcatraz Island to pay ther troops, 1 order reassigns officer to Alcatraz Island. The school boasted a crack cadet drill corp known as the "Crack Squad".
